Woman In Space
Woman In SpaceWoman In SpaceOriginal Created by Elisa Rossi :2021 Subjects: Abstract Materials:CanvasStyles:Abstract, Abstract Expressionism, FigurativeMediums: OilSOLD *The painting spirit was birthed during a meditation I did at night during the New Moon in Cancer in July 2021. I was praying for some happy developments in different areas of my life and I envisioned this voluptuous female shape emerging from a background painted in blue ultramarine. I painted over an old paintings and originally there was only a grid in the background that I realized by scratching the previous layers of paint with a knife. Then it was clear that the background was some far or close galaxy with supernova stars in background. There is an abstract Phoenix flying towards the central female figure from the top left corner of the painting. Also the woman's chest is contoured by mandala orange please which lean into the surrounding space. The female figure is flexing her elongated arms toward the moon and gently holding it.

Summit Of White Owls
Summit Of White OwlsPainting, Acrylic on CanvasSize: 38 W x 62 H x 0.2 D in2021The painting was inspired by Agnes Obel album 'Myopia'. I listened to these songs for several hours every day and they create a distinct imagery of somehow intangible realms where owls sing melodies at night. To capture this vision I used several layers of highly diluted acrylic, only black and white colors. I marked some shadows with charcoal. For inquiries please send an email to ellablisssart@gmail.comAVAILABLE
L'Aviatrice
L'Aviatrice6 ft. x 4 ft.Acrylic and charcoal on loose canvas2020For inquiries please send an email to ellablisssart@gmail.comThank you!CONTEXTL’'Aviatrice was realized during hot summer days in Los Angeles. I sketched it very fast at night under the full moon light. The original title was supposed to contain some references to the moon but then I opted for the Aviatrix because of the emerging figure smiling that is a female aviator, in fact exploring the moon. I painted it on loose canvas as I sometimes like the freedom and mobility of loose canvas against stretched canvas. Also it is my first piece all realized in monochromatic shades, black and white, that allowed me to express in a more immediate and complex way my inner visuals and to give to the piece an interrupted, fluid movement that connects all that is there. The central figure is a moon face, that can be seen both ways, upside down. One face is smiling, the upside down is sad. The aviatrix dominates the composition standing with a long neck behind the moon and her shuttle. On herleft there is another female character with an elongated, unreal neck and big hat. The neck of this second figure is made of bricks, like if she is being constructed piece after piece. On her left, a big abstract mask with geometric solid features stares at the center of the painting: she is neutral. I am not sure about the inspiration of this mask as I painted out of my imagination. Probably informed by my frequent trips to the Museum of African Art in Brussles, Ethiopian art, my interest in African masks especially the ones from Ethiopia and Somalia. The bottom portion of the painting is an optical illusion: if one looks at it from a distance can see a chariot carrying animals, led by two moon-children, looking at their right with a perplexed, curious gaze. Other masks stayed beneath the chariot, one with a peculiar dark vibe the other with the shape of a wheel, one of the wheels of the chariot indeed. There are teddy bears, pelicans, children, cartoon dogs and creatures, caterpillars with a baby face, little nut-cracker soldiers, hands and more elements that I will let the viewer have the pleasure to discover. There are more things to see in their different, endless combinations, that each person can spot and freely understand. The layers are built with washes of acrylic paint highly diluted, as I wanted to create a glassy, delicate surface as I perceive the surface of the moon to be. The charcoal defines some of the figures while others are intentionally left blurred and undefined. The moon light has a special allure and having started the painting in the dark explained the choice of black and white as primary colors of choice. #art #contemporaryart #contemporaryartgallery #emergingartist

The entangled wires and tubular elements symbolize the interconnectedness of each human with his/her ancestral genes; each code is a key to access memories, to seek answers, to visualize truths not available in the 3D reality, but made clear by exploring these non-physical realms.

L'Incontro
L'Incontro30 x 40 inchesAcrylic on canvas2020For inquiries please send an email to ellablisssart@gmail.comThank you!CONTEXT'L'Incontro' captures in vibrant colors an inner encounter between different part of my-selves. The spontaneous lines entanglement happened fast without premeditation. I originally wanted this piece to be in black and white, instead colors demanded a spot. Later in the composition, along with the central seemingly embrace, the glass art background came up, probably visually fed by my memories of churches during childhood and adult life. The painting is actually happening inside of a 'church', or monastery or sacred space, whatever we want to call it. I admire deeply glass art and Italian glass artists. L'Incontro is also something else: the slow process of getting oneself free from biological bonds and conditioning and embracing one broader soul family and sense of belonging. It is confusing, as everything is, but it also has a structure, like everything that exists.

It Is Your Birthright
It Is Your BirthrightIntuitive painting process with no premeditated intention. I applied many layers of acrylic paint and used different tools to create a diversified texture. For The Children
For The ChildrenFor The Children36 x 48 inchesAcrylic and ink on canvas2020For inquiries please send an email to ellablisssart@gmail.comThank you!Inspired by the many faces of motherhood. The process was driven by a meditation on the relationship between the birth giver and the new borns considering in this case the birth giver as the universal birth giver. The lines expand with a spiraling vortex as the Mother wants to expand and create more space, more opporrunities for her children that keep on being birthed. I was also inspired by a video I watched that documents a seahorse giving birth. There's tension between the infinite expansion and the exhaustion of the physical matter. As the style and line work was very dense I intentionally kept texture at the minimum, using layers over layers of washed acrylic and ink and also by keeping minimal the chromatic spectrum. The whole composition is structured on the pulling of opposite and equal forces that don't follow linear vectors.

Homecoming
Homecoming30 x 40 inchesOil on canvas2020For inquiries please send an email to ellablisssart@gmail.comHow to love myself? How to embrace myself? These are the questions that drive my artist’s journey. Homecoming is about being your own savior. Sometimes there is no hero but yourself. You can embrace that tiny speck of strength left and use it to travel from constriction and sadness to endless possibilities, infinite potential. The painting is realized in multiple layered textures that use as a foundation a previous painting. I wanted to create the effect of multiple bodies overlapping and entangling through grids of reality, with a translucent effect.
